The Telecom Infra Project (TIP) aims to bring operators and companies together to build-out wireless networks in underserved areas. Because our networks need to keep up with our advancing technology and capabilities, rather than having individual companies try to tackle this near impossible feat alone, this collaborative effort was born.
This collaboration will open up a system that is traditionally closed, affording operators more flexibility when it comes to building more networks. While some partners have been announced, more involvement can expedite the process of providing services. But what will the TIP do?
An example of their work includes a partnership with Globe to bring cellular service to one village in the Philippines, and the UK provider EE plans to bring 4G service to hard-to-connect areas of the Scottish Highlands.

Professional Etiquette For Emails
With that said, we all know that messages can sometimes end up in the wrong hands or can be taken out of context. Here are some email etiquette tips to avoid misunderstandings and keep your emails professional and appropriate.
Subject Line
Using a clear and direct subject line will increase the likelihood of someone opening your email. Choose a subject line that lets the recipient(s) know that you are addressing their concerns or issues. Good examples include “Meeting date changed” or Suggestions for the proposal.”
Email Address
For company correspondence, use your company email. If you need to use your personal email account for whatever reason (self-employed, occasional work-related issues), be sure that your email address is professional. It might be time to retire your email name from your teenage years and create one that conveys your name so that recipients can identify who is sending the email.
Reply All?
Much like group chats, replying to all can be an annoyance. Unless everyone can benefit from the message, be mindful when using “reply all.”
Signature Block
It is wise to give your reader some information about yourself. Signature blocks generally include your full name, title, company name, and contact information (including a phone number). Some people opt to add accomplishments or a quote, but remember not to go overboard. Also, use the same font, size and color as the rest of the email.
Salutations
Avoid using laid-back expressions like “Hey you guys” or “Yo.” Instead, keep salutations formal and use “Hi” or “Hello.” Also, try to avoid shortening anyone’s name (unless you are positive the person prefers it).
Exclamation Points!
Use these sparingly. Sometimes people get carried away with exclamation points, which ends up portraying the writer as too emotional or immature. If you would like to convey excitement, limit yourself to one.
Humor
Although something may be funny verbally, it may not translate properly into text. For professional communications, it’s best to avoid making jokes unless you know the recipient well. Remember, what is funny to you may not be to others so when it doubt, leave it out.
Cultural Sensitivity
Thanks to cultural differences, miscommunication can occur easily, especially through text since body language and tone are missing. You should tailor your message to the recipient’s cultural background and how well you know them.
Keep in mind that high-context cultures (Japanese, Arab, Chinese) value getting to know you before doing business, so it is common for business associates from these countries to be more personal in their writings. Whereas people from low-context cultures (German, American, Scandinavian) prefer to get to the point quickly.
Reply To Your Emails
It is understandable that with a high volume of incoming emails, you may not be able to answer all of them. However, that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t try. If an email was erroneously sent to you, and especially if the sender is expecting a reply, it is courteous to respond and inform the sender of their mistake.
Proofread, Proofread, & Proofread Again
While you may miss minor mistakes, your recipient likely will not, and may even judge you for them. Don’t let spell-check be the only way you proofread your emails. Read and reread your email a few times, and, if you wish, have a trusted colleague take a look as well. He or she can offer insight on tone and delivery that you may not have noticed.
Add The Email Address Last
A great trick to prevent accidentally sending an email before it is ready is to add the email address last. Even if you are replying to an email, delete the recipient’s address before you begin your response. Only when you are sure your email is ready is when you should input the email address.
Double-Check Your Recipient
Once you add the email address, double check that it is correct. When typing in the name, it’s easy to select the wrong one. Taking a few seconds to check the recipient address could potentially save you some embarrassment.
Fonts
Keep them classic. Comic Sans in different colors was fun in grade school, but when it comes to business communications, stick with a classic, easy to read font. Arial, Calibri, or Times New Roman in size 10-point or 12-point font in black are safe choices.
Tone
Much like humor, you should be cautious with your tone. Because vocal cues and body language are missing, your tone could easily get lost in translation. Try reading it out loud to yourself, or have a trusted peer look it over and get feedback. You should also avoid negative words such as “failure,” “wrong,” or “neglected” and always say “please” and “thank you.”
Nothing Is Confidential
There are many examples that can easily prove this, but always keep this in mind. Avoid writing anything that could be damaging or hurtful to yourself and others. It is better to be safe than sorry so be wary of what you send electronically.

How To Set & Cancel Call Forwarding On The Iwatsu ADIX IX-12KTD-2 Phone
Call forwarding can be very helpful when you are busy or away from your desk. Call forwarding allows you to redirect your incoming calls to an internal destination or an external line. You can have your colleagues take calls for you when you’re busy, or you may conduct your business calls on your mobile phone while you’re on the field.
If you have an Iwatsu ADIX IX-12KTD-2 phone, we can guide you through the steps of setting up and cancelling your Call Forwarding feature.
To set the forward destination, you may lift the handset or press SPKR, then press FWD. You will then enter the Call Type you wish to forward:
- Press 1 for All Calls
- Press 2 for CO Calls only
- Press 3 for Intercom Calls only
Next, enter the Flexible Call Forward Mode:
- Press 1 to forward All Calls to another extension or hunt group
- Press 2 to forward Busy/No Answer Calls to another extension or hunt group
- Press 3 to forward No Answer Calls to another extension or hunt group
- Press 4 to forward All Calls to an external number, using Personal Speed Dial codes 90-99
For Modes 1, 2, and 3, you will need to enter the extension or hunt group number. For Mode 4, you will need to enter the Personal Speed Dial code.
Wait for a confirmation tone and then you may hang up.
To cancel Call Forwarding, lift the handset and then press FWD. Next, press * then enter the Call Type you wish you cancel:
- Press 1 for All Calls (CO/Intercom)
- Press 2 for CO Calls only
- Press 3 for Intercom Calls only
Wait for a confirmation tone, and then you may hang up.

How To Avoid Missing A Call On The Aastra M6320 Phone
A missed call can be a missed opportunity. You can improve your customer service and communication skills by learning how to use call forwarding, call waiting, and manage your messages. If you have an Aastra M6320 phone, follow these steps to avoid missing calls.
Call Forwarding allows you to redirect your calls to another telephone or voice message system as needed.
To set Call Forward, press the Call Fwd button. The indicator light next to the key will flash. To use the previous Call Forward number, press the button again and the indicator light will turn ON. To use a different number, enter the number to which you want to direct your calls, and then press the Call Fwd button. The indicator light with turn ON. To cancel, press the Call Fwd button again and the indicator light will turn OFF.
Call Waiting notifies you when you have a second incoming call by sending two short tones to the handset or speaker at regular intervals, and the Call Waiting indicator will flash.
To answer the second incoming call, press the Call Wait button which shows the flashing indicator. The original call goes on hold automatically. To return to your original call, press the line key of the original call. The other party is then put on hold automatically and the Call Wait indicator winks. You may alternate between calls by pressing the appropriate line key.
Call Pickup lets you answer a call ringing at any telephone in your pickup group from your phone. Call Pickup groups are set by your System Administrator or Customer Service Representative.
To pick up a call ringing at another telephone in your pickup group, you may do one of the following:
1. Lift the handset, 2. Press the desired line key, 3. Press the In Calls key, or 4. Press the Selector key. Then press Pickup.
Message Waiting works with the Leave Message feature or with your organization’s voice mail system. An indicator light next to the Msg Wait button turns ON whenever you have a call request or a voice mail message. Message Waiting queues up all call requests left for you starting with the first caller.
To retrieve your messages, lift your handset or press Handsfree. Press Msg Wait to dial the Message Center automatically, or dial the Message Center number manually. Retrieve your messages one by one until all messages have been heard. The indicator light turns OFF when you have listened to all of your messages.
Leave Message works with the Message Waiting feature by letting you send a call request to another telephone in your system. Your call request allows the other party to return your call quickly and easily.
If you are making a call and there is no answer or the line is busy, press Leave Msg. The Message Waiting indicator light on their phone will turn ON.
