Conferencing On The ShoreTel 480G IP Phone

On the ShoreTel 480G IP phone, the number of people you can conference together in a call using your Conference button depends on the system configuration. Contact your ShoreTel Connect administrator for the details about your system’s conference capabilities. Follow along to learn how to make a Conference call on your ShoreTel 480G IP phone.
Making A Conference Call
You can set up a conference call using either of the following approaches:
• In a blind conference call, you conference the people together without the other person first answering your call.
• In a consultative conference call, you talk to the person before adding that person to the conference call.
To make a conference call:
1. Dial the extension of the first person you would like to include in the conference call, and consult with that person.
2. Press the Conference button. The call is then put on hold.
Tip: Press Cancel soft key or the Hold button if you want to cancel the conference.
3. Dial the extension of the next person you would like to add to the conference call.
4. Optionally, after dialing the extension, you can quickly do one of the following:
a. Press the Confer soft key to initiate a blind conference call.
b. Press the Consult soft key or wait until the timeout ends to initiate a consultative conference.
c. If you have the necessary permissions, press the Intercom soft key to connect with the other party through the intercom.
5. Do one of the following:
a. While the phone rings, proceed to the next step.
b. Wait for the person to answer, and consult with the person if necessary.
6. If you’ve initiated a consultative or Intercom conference, when prompted press the Yes soft key to proceed with the conference.
A three-way conference call is established. Your phone displays the number of other participants included in the conference call.
7. Repeat steps 1-6 for each additional person you want to include in the conference call.
Tip: If you want to see the names of the people included in the conference call, press the Show soft key. While showing conference participants, to drop a party from the conference call, use the ▼ or ▲ navigation keys to scroll to that person’s name within this list. With the name highlighted, press the Drop soft key. To return to the conference screen, press the Back soft key.
Using The Merge Feature To Conference Active Calls
When you are engaged in an active call or a conference call, you can add another incoming or held call to your conference call through the Merge feature.
• To add the call to an existing call or conference call, press the Merge soft key.
o If there is only one other call on the phone, the new call is automatically added to the held call or conference call.
o If more than one other call is on hold, the phone displays a list of calls you can merge the active call to. Use the navigation key pad to scroll to the call you want to merge, and press the Merge soft key.
o If the call in focus is a held call, when you press the Merge soft key it merges the held call to the active call.

Forwarding Calls On The Cisco 7960G IP Phone

Of its excellent features is Call Forwarding. Call forwarding allows you to redirect all incoming calls from your Cisco IP Phone to another number.
Use call forwarding to:
- Send incoming calls to another number where you can answer the calls (for example, if you are going to be working in an alternate office).
- Send incoming calls directly to your voice messaging system through the call forwarding feature.
Call forwarding can send your calls to another Cisco IP Phone or to a traditional analog phone.
If there is no answer at the forwarded number, either by a person or by a voice messaging system, the call will be sent back to your voice messaging system.
Setting Up Call Forwarding On Your Phone
1. Press the CFwdAll softkey. You should hear two beeps.
2. Enter the number to which you want to forward all of your calls, exactly as you would if you were placing a call to that number.
- For example, enter an access code such as 9 or the area code, if necessary. Your system administrator might restrict the call forwarding feature to numbers within your company.
After you enter the number, an animated phone icon with a flashing right arrow appears in the upper-right corner of the LCD screen. The LCD screen also displays a message confirming the number or extension to which your calls are being forwarded.
3. To cancel call forwarding, press the CFwdAll softkey.
Note: You can use the User Options web pages to set up call forwarding when you are not at your phone, or to use call forwarding to send all of your incoming calls directly to your voice messaging system without causing your desk phone to ring.
Canceling Call Forwarding On Your Phone
To cancel call forwarding from your phone, press the CFwAll softkey.
And that is how you use Call Forwarding on the Cisco 7960G IP phone. Please see your System Administrator for further questions.

Troubleshooting The Polycom SoundStation2 Conference Phone

As we all know, nothing is perfect, and you may come across some hiccups when using the SoundStation2 phone. Here are some of the most common issues along with helpful troubleshooting tips.
- No Dial Tone
The telephone cable must be plugged into an analog telephone jack. If the dial tone is not heard, verify the following:- Check that the console is operational.
- Check that the telephone cable from the interface module is connected to an analog telephone (POTS) line.
- Does Not Ring
- Check that the ringer is not turned off.
- If the volume is turned all the way down, increase the volume with the Volume buttons.
- Flickering LCD
If your screen appears to flicker, it may be because you are using a certain type of fluorescent lighting in your building. Move the phone away from the lights or replace the fluorescent bulbs. - Keypad Input Doesn’t Register
This could happen if you enter information too quickly. Press the alphanumeric buttons slowly. Some buttons may not be recognized if you press them too quickly. - Muffled or “In A Well” Reception
This is caused by high reverberant rooms and people speaking too far from the microphone.- Speak closer to the console so that the microphones pick up your speech more accurately.
- Add more sound absorbency to the room.
- Short Silences, Echos, or Clipped Speech
- Do not move the SoundStation2 console when it is in use.
- Keep your hands away from the console during calls.
- To avoid excessive noise around the unit, keep papers, cups, and other noise-producers away from the console.
- At the beginning of each call, let someone at each location speak in turn for a few moments to enable SoundStation2 to adapt to its environment.
- The other parties may be using non-Polycom equipment which may cause audio performance issues.
- Try calling again; a different line may provide a better connection.
- Physical Damage
- If physical damage is severe enough that the internal parts become visible, disconnect the SoundStation2 immediately.
- Do not reconnect the telephone network until the SoundStation2 has been repaired.
To get the best performance:
- Position the SoundStation2 in the center of the conference table or desk.
- Do not move the Soundstation2 during a call.
- Do not shuffle papers near the SoundStation2.
- Position extended microphones 7′ from the SoundStation2 console.
- Speak at a normal conversation level, and direct your voice towards the console or towards the extended microphone.
- Unplug all cords before cleaning the SoundStation2. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosol cleaners. Use a damp, soft cloth for cleaning.
If you need further assistance regarding your Polycom SoundStation2 conference phone, please contact your original equipment provider.
